Eat your way round the Caribbean at Taste of London with the Caribbean Tourism Organisation

Experience a taste of sunshine by visiting Taste of London where the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) along with Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Grenada, St. Kitts, Trinidad & Tobago and Virgin Holidays will be hosting the Caribbean Pavilion. Taste runs from June 21-24, 2012 and the CTO will be showcasing some of the finest food and drink from across the region, from the most traditional dishes to more modern takes on Caribbean cuisine.

As one would expect, the rum will be flowing freely and visitors can sample Bermuda’s National drink, the Dark ‘n’ Stormy, BVI Pain Killer rum cocktail, Grenadian rum from Westerhall distillery, Angostura 1919 reserve rum from Trinidad and Tobago, as well as indulging in a rare chance to try St Kitts’ very special Brinley Gold flavoured rums, not available or distributed anywhere in the UK.

London-based French Creole street food specialists, Bokit’La, will be serving up some tasty savoury treats at the show and visitors can indulge their sweet tooth with Caymanas rum cake and special chocolate from Grenada and Tobago. Cookbooks and cocktail recipes will also be on sale throughout courtesy of Promoting our Heritage and their Caribbean bookshop.

Rum as you’ve never seen it before will also be served up by RUMblin’, a collective of real rum aficionados who put rum in practically anything – try their take on rum-based sorbets, cocktails and even canapés.

For those who are inspired to head to the Caribbean and indulge in even more gourmet treats, Virgin Holidays will be offering exclusive deals on Caribbean holidays and bookings made at the show will receive a case of wine. Visitors will also have the chance to win a luxury five night stay at The Reefs Hotel in Bermuda with the Bermuda Department of Tourism and British Airways.

Summer in Great Exuma, Bahamas Means Airfare Savings through Grand Isle Resort & Spa

There are two exciting Bahamas resort escapes to Grand Isle from which to choose through September 15, 2012. Savings are determined by length of stay and size of villa. First, guests flying from Ft. Lauderdale will enjoy complimentary airfare on Silver Airways. This includes four roundtrip tickets for those booking a lavishly appointed three- or four-bedroom villa for a stay of five nights or more. For those booking one- or two-bedroom luxury accommodations, two free roundtrip tickets will be awarded.

The other option for itineraries from any city includes up to $800 in instant air savings. Guests of this extraordinary all-villa resort community who reserve a three- or four-bedroom villa for a minimum of three nights will instantly enjoy $800 off their total visit. These savings can then be applied to airfare or other vacation expenses. Reservations for one- and two-bedroom villas include an immediate savings of $400.

“We understand that airfare is a big portion of the expense for summer travel. We want to do everything we can to help our guests get here to experience our premier Emerald Bay location and Grand Isle lifestyle,” says Grant Castle, Executive Director, Grand Isle Resort & Spa. “Offsetting these costs and providing great value is a matter of appreciation for our patrons.”

Grand Isle Resort & Spa is a stunning oceanfront Bahamas resort comprising 78 luxuriously appointed 1- to 4-bedroom villas, each with fully equipped kitchens, spacious living areas, high-end amenities, and extraordinary views. It’s a paradise for scuba divers, snorkelers, boaters and beach lovers alike, and is ideally suited for family vacations, romantic getaways, destination weddings, honeymoons or for simply enjoying the beach.

New England's Oldest Food & Wine Fest Announces 2012 Dates and New Location

A Taste of The Litchfield Hills, New England's oldest food and wine festival, will be held August 25-26, 2012, at Harwinton Fairgrounds - a new location for the 27-year old festival.

"Harwinton Fairgrounds is easily-accessible from Routes 4 & 8, plus offers plenty of parking, modern handicapped accessible restrooms and covered pavilions for outdoor dining," said event manager Clinton Billups.

In prior years, the festival was held at various Litchfield County locations including a winery, ski area and road racing venue.

"The Harwinton Fairgrounds also will provide the festival with more space for additional attractions, entertainment and exhibits," said Billups.

Since 1985, A Taste of The Litchfield Hills has annually attracted thousands of foodies for a sampling of the region's food and wine, plus upscale shopping and live entertainment.

Chefs from regional restaurants, bistros and other purveyors of fine food will prepare and serve grazing-sized portions of house specialties. Wine will be served by the glass, plus draught beer and a variety of soft drinks also will be available.

Guests also will enjoy live entertainment, plus upscale shopping in an outdoor bazaar featuring artisan crafted treasures and unique gifts.

Northern Outdoors to Host 2012 Untamed New England Adventure Race, June 19-24, 2012

Northern Outdoors will host the four-day 2012 Untamed New England Adventure Race this June, bringing adventure racing back to Maine’s rugged wilderness after a 17 year hiatus. On June 19th, 50 international, mostly coed, four-person teams from six countries - including Denmark, Ecuador, France, and Sweden’s world champions of adventure racing “Thule Adventure Team” – will charge off the starting line in The Forks, Maine to begin a grueling, non-stop, multi-sport expedition. Teams will power hundreds of miles through some of the northeast’s most feral forests, wild whitewater, and along remote ragged ridgelines.

Known for their professional expertise in outdoor adventures and in pioneering Maine expeditions, the Northern Outdoor leadership team consulted on this year’s Untamed New England racecourse design, as it did 17 years earlier for Mark Burnett’s 1995 Eco-Challenge. That first Eco-Challenge race was held in Maine’s backcountry as part of ESPN’s X-Games. Burnett, often called the Father of Adventure Racing, is better known these days as the producer of hit TV-shows Survivor, The Voice and Shark Tank.

Northern Outdoors will host all pre-race meetings, post-race activities, and media operations. After traversing the rugged backcountry course, racers will get to kick back at Northern Outdoors’ Kennebec River Brewery and celebrate with refreshing, icy cold ales and lagers handcrafted on-premise.
