Lighthouse Publications Launches New Boating Magazine

New England Boating Magazine is a new bi-annual, high-end, 4-color, glossy magazine featuring New England boating destinations, lifestyle and culture.

New England Boating focuses primarily on the region’s many beautiful and exciting places to visit by water. Each article features an overview of a particular port, lake or river, as well as important information boaters need to know about the area, including: marina listings, anchorages, launch ramp locations, mooring availability, harbormaster contacts; and where to find fuel and other services. Also included are suggestions on local dining options, accommodations, shopping, historic sites, fishing and other fun, interesting things to see and do in port. Readers seeking additional information on a particular destination can do so via QR codes linking them to BoatingLocal.com - a resource of boating news, videos, cruising and fishing information.

“Our goal is to bring each boating destination to life through well-crafted articles and stunning photography that make the reader want to jump in his or her boat and visit these places,” says New England Boating Editor Tom Richardson, a former editor at Offshore and Salt Water Sportsman magazines and host of BoatingLocal.com. “The region’s boaters deserve a magazine that celebrates and understands the unique culture of boating in New England, and we aim to deliver.”

New England Boating is published by Lighthouse Publications and Lighthouse Media Solutions.

Boston Ballet Launches 50th Year with Five Company Premieres and Historic Touring

Boston Ballet will present the first-ever Night of Stars gala on Boston Common on September 21, 2013 – a free performance for the greater-Boston community. Programming includes an astounding range of works, featuring stunning classics La Bayadere and Cinderella, two cutting-edge repertory programs containing American and world premieres, and Balanchine’s masterpiece, Jewels.

“We have exhilarating momentum going into our 50th year,” said Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen. “The 2013-2014 season is a pivotal celebration of the Company’s distinguished past, extraordinary present, and exciting future. This milestone year is an opportunity to celebrate today’s Boston Ballet and give thanks to all the people who have helped us get here.”

Boston Ballet kicks off the 50th season with a presentation at the Ballet Across America Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and a return to London after 30 years. On July 3-7, 2013, the Company will self-present six performances at the London Coliseum. Two programs were carefully selected by Artistic Director, Mikko Nissinen to highlight the magnitude of Boston Ballet’s repertoire and the versatility of its dancers. The dynamic collection of ballets the Company will perform in London reflect a century of groundbreaking choreography, ranging from Vaslav Nijinsky to George Balanchine, to Boston Ballet Resident Choreographer, Jorma Elo.
