On August 1, 2024, Cape Air reinstated nonstop twice-weekly service between St. Croix, USVI and Vieques, Puerto Rico, providing convenient and accessible air travel options within the Caribbean. Cape Air will operate two weekly flights on Monday and Thursday between Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix and Antonio Rivera RodrÃguez Airport in Vieques. The flight schedule is optimally timed for local travel. Passengers can book their reservations now on capeair.com or by calling 1-800-CAPE-AIR.
Linda Markham, President and CEO of Cape Air, emphasized the airline's longstanding commitment to the Caribbean region, spanning over twenty-six years. She highlighted, “Cape Air has a pivotal role in linking island communities to major cities and facilitating seamless travel through partnerships with other carriers”.
"The reinstatement of air service between St. Croix and Vieques is a testament to Cape Air’s commitment to strengthening connections within the Caribbean communities,” stated Bobby Falcon, Cape Air's Managing Director of Airport Services. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bridge the islands with convenient and first-class service for both tourism and our local business connections."
“The return of Cape Air service between St. Croix and Vieques further elevates the connectivity between not just our community but also the tourism community with ease of inter-island transport,” shares Commissioner Joseph Boschulte of the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism. “Like many neighboring islands in the Lesser Antilles, there has long been a deeply interwoven connection between families in Puerto Rico and St. Croix, and as we begin to see the market continue to restabilize, we see the increased interest in cross-Caribbean travel from residents and visitors alike. Cape Air’s recent growth in St Croix and across the U.S. Virgin Islands market helps to underscore the increased necessity and demand.”
Cape Air has been offering affordable, convenient, frequent daily flights throughout the Caribbean since 1998. Cape Air operates the Cessna 402 aircraft which is a nine-passenger, low-wing, twin-engine aircraft exquisitely suited for inter-island flights. With its Caribbean hubs in San Juan and St. Thomas, Cape Air operates more than 80 daily flights to St. Croix, Nevis, Tortola, Vieques, Anguilla, Mayaguez, Culebra, and Virgin Gorda.

Rhode Island-based REGENT, the company pioneering all electric seagliders for zero-emission coastal travel, announced in October, 2023, that it will partner with Surf Air Mobility to establish a base for seaglider operations in Miami. The new service will provide passenger transport service for South Florida, including routes from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and the Caribbean Islands. This deal is the continuation of a longstanding relationship between REGENT and Surf Air subsidiary Southern Airways. The seagliders may be in service as soon as 2027.
Approximately 9 million passengers travel through South Florida each year across commercial air, ferry, rail, and car. Miami-based seaglider operations could serve as many as 1.5 million passengers annually, connecting travelers between coastal destinations as well as major transportation hubs including Miami International Airport and PortMiami.
