Six Days of Boston Harborfest Begins Today 6/29

America’s rich colonial and maritime history will come alive for visitors during the 30th annual celebration of the award-winning Boston Harborfest starting today June 29, through Monday, July 4.

The festivities will include historical reenactments, walking tours, sunset harbor cruises, and free noontime concerts throughout the week on City Hall Plaza. Among the highlights of the entertainment are the annual Party on the Plaza, and a fife and drum concert by Middlesex County Volunteers.

On Thursday, June 30th, children of all ages are invited to the fun and activity-filled Children’s Day for musical sing-along, face painting, balloon animals, and more.

Visitors to the 30th Annual Chowderfest will vote for “Boston’s Best Chowder” after sampling traditional New England-style clam chowder from some of the Boston area’s top restaurants on Sunday, July 3rd.

A new addition to this year’s Harborfest is the Extreme Sailing Series, taking place at Fan Pier on Boston Harbor. Eleven multi-hull sailboats from around the world will race each afternoon, starting June 30th. The Marina-inspired, Village Style Fishing Lodge Cap Cana to Open October 1, 2011 on Dominica Republic

The highly anticipated Fishing Lodge Cap Cana, a luxury resort development on the Eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, is scheduled to open to guests as a Salamander Marina & Beach Resort on October 1, 2011, and will begin taking reservations in July.
