Escape to the Caribbean in Exquisite Style with Star Clippers and Receive Two Hotel Nights Free

Star Clippers is offering 34 departures in the Caribbean from December 2019 through March 2020. Two ships—Royal Clipper and Star Flyer—call on the islands of St. Maarten, Barbados and Antigua, as well as lesser-known gems, such as Isles de Saintes, Nevis, Dominica and Anguilla.

Travelers who want to extend their Caribbean getaway, before or after sailing, can take advantage of a complimentary two-night hotel stay plus breakfast and transfers in either Barbados or St. Maarten on select 2019-2020 departures.

Guests booking select seven-night Windward Island and Grenadine Island sailings, seven-night Antigua to Barbados, and the 16-night Barbados to Lisbon ocean crossing on board the Royal Clipper, receive two complimentary nights at the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa, a full service resort in Christ Church, Barbados.

Guests who book select 14-night Panama and seven-night Treasure and Leeward Island itineraries, will receive a two-night stay at the charming Holland House beach hotel in downtown Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

Sailing rates start at $1,440 per person, based on double occupancy; the hotel package constitutes a $600 value.

Visiting the Caribbean on board a clipper ship is a unique and unrivaled experience. These ships are true sailing vessels, using wind power whenever possible to navigate between islands. Gliding into port under full sail is a thrilling experience, and one that allows guests to imagine what it must have been like for the early explorers who arrived in this exotic region on very similar vessels (minus, of course, the onboard luxuries like a full-service spa and multiple swimming pools). And while larger cruise ships disembark their passengers into busy ports filled with aggressive tourist shops, Star Clippers ships cast anchor in remote harbors populated with local businesses and housing private yachts. Small tender boats take guests to and from shore—often to visit charming towns or off-the-beaten-path beaches where it’s not unusual to be one of only a handful of snorkelers or sunbathers.

Puerto Rico is the Chosen Destination for the World Travel & Tourism Council 2020 Global Summit

The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, is the chosen destination for the World Travel & Tourism Council 2020 Global Summit.

The announcement was made by Gloria Guevara Manzo, President & CEO of WTTC and Puerto Rico’s Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares at the closing ceremony of the 2019 Global Summit in Seville, Spain, earlier this year.

The Government of Puerto Rico’s Tourism Company and Discover Puerto Rico will host the upcoming event at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan, on April 21-23, 2020.

“We are delighted to bring next year’s Global Summit to the beautiful tropical Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, a welcoming and diverse destination, which not only offers visitors glorious beaches, it is also home to the only tropical rainforest in the U.S.," said Guevara Manzo. "Our annual Global Summit brings together the most influential figures from the public and private sector to address the challenges and opportunities facing the Travel & Tourism industry and is the most important event in the calendar each year. Hosting the Global Summit in Puerto Rico reflects the commitment and efforts of the government and tourist board to grow both business and leisure travel.”

Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares emphasized, “Travel & Tourism in instrumental in Puerto Rico’s economic development plans, and has proven to be the most resilient sector in our economy. More so, we believe that sound public policy that effectively attends to private sector needs can be a catalyst for change. Events like the WTTC Global Summit not only give us an opportunity to showcase the diversity of our destination’s tourism offering, but also facilitate spaces for the public and private sectors to define the future of Travel & Tourism together.”

Carla Campos, Executive Director of the Government of Puerto Rico's Tourism Ministry, had this to say regarding the summit:  “Every destination has a moment in time to claim its place in the global Travel & Tourism scene; Puerto Rico is on the cusp of becoming a next generation tourism destination, and the WTTC Global Summit is the ideal stage to unveil how the public and private sectors are working together to make it happen. Tourism is a force for good and an ideal vehicle to improve people’s quality of lives. We share that vision with WTTC members and are honored to have the opportunity to host Travel & Tourism leaders from around the world in Puerto Rico next year.”

A joint management and marketing governance structure between the PRTC and Discover Puerto Rico, a newly created and independent destination marketing organization, was recently enacted. Puerto Rico, which attracts more than three million visitors to its shores each year was hard hit by hurricane Maria in 2017. The island is experiencing a tremendous rebound in its tourism sector.

“We’re honored to have been chosen as host destination for the upcoming World Travel and Tourism Council 2020 Global Summit. Puerto Rico is a place where rich culture and natural wonders lay the foundation for an immense bounty of one-of-a-kind experiences. We’re thriving as a destination of global importance and hosting this Summit will elevate even further our tourism offering, positively impacting the local economy. We look forward to welcoming the global tourism industry next year to discover all that Puerto Rico offers,” said Brad Dean, Chief Executive Officer of Discover Puerto Rico.

Three Holland America Line Ships Set Sail for the Charming Coastal Towns of Canada and New England in 2020

In 2020 Holland America Line's Amsterdam, Zaandam and Zuiderdam will transport guests to the stunning coastlines and historic cities of Canada and New England on more than 40 cruises. Sailing one of the most robust seasons in the industry between April and October, guests can select from among 10 itineraries ranging from six to 14 days.

During the summer months, cruisers will have even more sailings to choose from when Amsterdam joins Zaandam to offer additional Canada & New England Discovery cruises between Boston, Massachusetts, and Montréal, Québec — giving guests more opportunities to explore Maine’s spectacular Acadia National Park or Cape Breton’s incredible Bird Islands.

“Canada and New England is a spectacular destination for cruising and more travelers are discovering its abundance of charm, deep maritime history, art, architecture and culinary diversity,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “For many, it’s a close-to-home destination waiting to be explored, while others come from around the world to experience its uniqueness and culturally rich ports. The growing popularity of the region and attractiveness to all ages is why we’re offering three ships on an extended summer and fall sailing season.”

Beginning in April, Amsterdam, Zaandam and Zuiderdam sail a diverse collection of six-, seven-, eight-, 10-, 11- and 14-day cruises departing from Boston; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; New York City, New York; and Montréal and Québec City, Québec, in Canada. The cruises will feature calls at some of the region’s most iconic destinations, including Canada’s Charlottetown, Sydney and Halifax, as well as Bar Harbor, Maine.

Amsterdam & Zaandam Bring More Summer Sailings
On April 21, 2020, Zaandam kicks off the Canada and New England spring season with an 11-day Atlantic Coast cruise. Departing from Fort Lauderdale, the ship will call at Newport; Boston; Bar Harbor; Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; and Québec City, before concluding at Montréal. The Amsterdam will sail a similar itinerary departing May 26, with a port of call in Portland, Maine, and scenic cruising along the Saint Lawrence River.

From May through September 2020, both Amsterdam and Zaandam offer a series of seven-day Canada and New England Discovery cruises between Montréal and Boston, featuring calls at Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Sydney, Charlottetown and Québec City, as well as cruising in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Special six and eight-day itineraries are featured departing Oct. 3 and Oct. 9, respectively.

Zaandam offers a new seven-day Historic Coasts cruise in 2020, as well as a 14-day Atlantic Coast cruise. The Historic Coasts cruise departs Aug. 22 sailing roundtrip from Boston and includes calls at Portland, Maine; Saint John, New Brunswick; Halifax; Sydney; and Bar Harbor. The 14-day Atlantic Coast cruise departs Montréal Oct. 17 and calls at Québec City and Baie-Comeau, Québec; Charlottetown; Sydney; Halifax; Bar Harbor; Boston; New York; and Charleston, South Carolina, before ending at Fort Lauderdale.

Nature’s Dazzling Colors Come to Life on Fall Foliage Cruises

In September, Zuiderdam launches the fall season with three 10-day Colors of Canada & New England cruises between New York and Québec City. On Sept. 7 and 27, Zuiderdam will depart New York and call at Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Sydney, Charlottetown and Québec City, where guests will enjoy an overnight stay before disembarking. A similar itinerary is available Sept. 17 departing Québec City, where guests will enjoy an overnight stay on board prior to the cruise departure.

These cruises feature cruising through the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Saguenay Fjord, where the jewel-toned hues of the fall foliage present a dazzling display of color.

Zuiderdam sails an 11-day Atlantic Coast cruise departing Québec City Oct. 7, calling at Charlottetown, Sydney, Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport and New York, before concluding at Fort Lauderdale.

Cruise fares for the seven-day Canada & New England Discovery cruises begin at $799; fares for the 10-day Colors of Canada & New England cruises begin at $1,399; fares for the 11-day Atlantic Coast cruises begin at $999; and fares for the 14-day Atlantic Coast cruise begin at $1,799; all per person, double occupancy.
